Job Description:
Elite Seed Potato Farm Manager

The Prince Edward Island Potato Board is seeking a results oriented individual with a “can do” attitude to manage our elite seed potato facility. Located near Alberton, PEI, the Fox Island Elite Seed Farm produces Nuclear, Pre-Elite, Elite I and Elite II class seed potatoes for the Island industry. The successful individual will be a hands-on manager being an active participant in field operations as well as overseeing the farm operation. Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Management, planning and control of operations from field planting to harvest, storage and shipping.
Actively participate in all field and production operations.
Maintain certification in numerous areas – first aid, spray application, forklift operation, etc.
Hire and supervise casual staff.
Maintain computer records for field operations.
Work with head office to set financial and production goals.
Maintenance of facilities and machinery.
Qualifications:

Post secondary degree or diploma in agriculture or a related field or equivalent experience.
Experience in potato production.
Experience in operation of farm machinery.
Competent in operation of computer and basic software programs.
Good communication skills and able to work in a small team environment.
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail essential.
Supervisory experience.
Experience in farm machinery maintenance would be an asset.
Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
