Required Skills:
The ideal candidate for the position would be working towards a post-secondary education in agriculture, and a farming background would be an asset. We are looking for a hard-working individual, who works well individually, but also in a team setting, has good communication, organization and time-management skills.
Ability and willingness to operate farm equipment and off-road vehicles would be an asset, but not a requirement.

Job Description:
G.W.R Visser farms is a quality seed and table potato operation located in Prince Edward Island and we are currently looking to hire an Agronomic intern for the 2018 cropping season to aid in our agronomic operations. The position runs from May-August. In addition to potatoes, G.W.R Visser farms also produces a wide range of grain crops including, winter wheat, peas, soybeans, lupins and mustard.
The intern will be exposed to the various operations that are required to run a sustainable potato farm on PEI:
Some of the operations that will be touched on, include, but are not limited to:
• Planter accuracy
• Set cutting analysis
• Crop scouting (potato, grain and cereal crops)
• Creamer potato production progress
• Work with the agronomist to organize and carry out on farm R&D programs
• Data collection for an on farm integrated pest management system for the
control of wireworms
• Soil sampling
• Record keeping
• Pre-harvest potato analysis
