Required Skills:
Post-secondary education in Agricultural Sciences; new graduates are welcome to apply;
Working knowledge of crop science and experience in crop production are considered strong assets;
Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
Must hold a valid driver’s license;
Must be willing and able to obtain a PEI Pesticide Applicator’s Certificate;
Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs is essential;
Comfortable working in an outdoor environment and performing physical labor (e.g. lifting up to 40 lbs.);
Experience working in a farming environment would be considered an asset;
A positive, “can-do” attitude and willingness to work under field, greenhouse and laboratory conditions.

Cavendish Farms is a leading producer of frozen food products for retail and foodservice markets throughout Canada, the United States, and around the world. We have state-of-the-art potato processing plants in Prince Edward Island, Lethbridge, Alberta, and Jamestown, North Dakota, and an appetizer plant in Wheatley, Ontario. Reporting to the Plant Breeder, the Plant Breeding Technician will assist and work with the Plant Breeding team in developing new potato varieties; with the objective of improving raw production quality, yield, and in turn overall customer satisfaction.



The successful candidate is continuously looking for opportunities for improvement, and has the ability to quickly adapt to a fast paced, dynamic work environment.
Performing laboratory, greenhouse activities and field trials; including setting- up and maintaining variety trials and other experimental plots;
Record keeping, data collection and entry;
Coordination and supervision of temporary seasonal activities;
All other duties as assigned.
Wages:
To be determined per year for 40 hours per week
